Healing Care
Supporting Healing and Recovery for Survivors
Trauma leaves deep and lasting impacts on a survivor's sense of safety, their relationships, their identity, and their hope for the future. Healing from it is not linear, and it cannot happen in isolation. Survivors need safe, compassionate environments where they are believed, supported, and able to rebuild their lives over time.
Shining Within partners with trusted, locally led organisations to help survivors from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities access trauma-informed support and therapy within their own communities. We are committed to serving people with dignity and respect, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, or social background. Caregivers who understand the cultural context and lived realities of the people they serve deliver these services.

What Healing Care Includes
Each partner organisation tailors support to the needs of the community they serve. Their programs may include:
- Trauma counselling and psychosocial support
- Group healing and peer support programs
- Safe spaces for recovery
- Survivor-centred case support and recovery planning
- Long-term support throughout recovery
These approaches recognise that trauma affects the whole person - emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually - and that recovery requires safety, trust, and sustained care.
Why Healing Care Matters
When survivors are supported to heal, the impact extends far beyond the individual.
Healing contributes to stronger families, safer communities, and long-term resilience. It also helps reduce cycles of violence and supports recovery across generations.
Supporting survivors is therefore both an immediate response to harm and an investment in lasting change.
